Cleaning your home before listing it for sale
If you want to list your home for top dollar, you better be sure it’s clean inside and out or potential buyers will pick it apart. The last thing you want is for a potential buyer to offer you less because they think you’ve been neglecting your home. Or worse, not make an offer at all because they were turned off simply because it wasn’t clean.
This particular Davidsonville, MD home pictured is being listed for sale on March 1st, 2015 and the current owner wanted to get it all cleaned up prior to putting it on the market.
Perception is reality
If it looks dirty, potential buyers will wonder what else you haven’t been keeping up with, it’s true! Keep the following in check so you’re showing your home in its best condition.
Exterior walkways, and siding
The first surface your eyes are drawn to when approaching a home are the sidewalks, and then naturally the siding and windows. If screens are torn, replace them or take them out. Ensure that concrete sidewalks are pressure washed and your siding is professionally cleaned if necessary.
Windows
Window cleaning is a huge plus prior to listing your home for sale. Potential home buyers will look in and out of your windows and you can believe that they’ll notice dirt, cobwebs and insect remains all over the glass and frames.
Interior
Carpets should be vacuumed and professionally cleaned, if necessary. Your home should be dusted from top to bottom including air vents. If possible, remove as much of your belongings as possible so others can imagine their own “stuff” in there.
